Carol Umanzor

Carol Umanzor is the Co-PI on the NSF IUSE HSI award that is funding this research. Carol serves as the Agent of Change Specialist for SF BUILD at SF State. She supports students who are interested in community-engaged biomedical research find funding opportunities through SF BUILD programming. Carol is also an SF State alum she earned her M.S. in Cell Molecular Biology. Following that she earned a Master’s and teaching credential in science education. She taught middle and high school science before returning to SF State in her current role. She is passionate about creative inclusive spaces in science for those who are most marginalized. She is excited to get to lead this project and learn more about the experience of undergraduate women in biology at SF State.​
